🏡 SEFA Welcomes the Creation of EU Special Committee on the Housing Crisis
We are thrilled to share that the European Parliament has taken a historic step by establishing a Special Committee on the Housing Crisis, with an overwhelming 480 votes in favor. This marks a pivotal moment in addressing one of Europe’s most pressing challenges.
The committee, set to operate for one year, will focus on:
✔️ Mapping housing needs for low- and middle-income groups.
✔️ Assessing the economic impact of housing scarcity on poverty, inequality, and social exclusion.

✔️ Reviewing EU, national, and local policies on social and affordable housing.
✔️ Tackling housing speculation and evaluating the effectiveness of EU funds.
✔️ Addressing issues like short-term rentals, rising housing prices, and construction sector barriers.
This initiative will also contribute to the development of the European Affordable Housing Plan, a critical step toward ensuring fair and sustainable housing solutions across the EU.
We welcome the committee's focus on funding mechanisms that align with sustainable development goals. Affordable, energy-efficient housing is vital for a fair and just energy transition, and we look forward to collaborating with stakeholders to support innovative solutions.
SEFA at Sustainable City Network Greece annual event
We are pleased to share that Angeliki (Lina) Konstantinopoulou , SEFA Executive Director presented the CROSSFIT initiative at an annual Sustainable City event to 80 municipalities in the presence of the Minister of Interior Theodoros Livanios, the Minister of State Makis Voridis, and the Mayor of Athens Haris Doukas.
